Nepal – Pokhara and Hiking Himalayas

When I started planing my trip to Nepal it happened right before the earthquake. I already had my non refundable plane ticket and some other plane tickets all booked up, so I thought that going to Nepal after the disaster would be a different travel experience and for sure it was.
I felt like I should help the Nepalese people and just being there, spending my American dollars and help with their economy was great way to do that. I had a great sense of generosity exploring Nepal, meeting people and more than just help financially it was nice to be kind and in return I got to meet people with great heart and so nice to me.

On my flight from Delhi to Nepal I was lucky to be at the right side of the plane to appreciate this beautiful gift of nature.

My plan was to spend one night in Kathmandu and then fly to Pokhara since I was  really looking forward to do some trekking up in the mountains, I would go back to Kathmandu a few days later.

That night in Kathmandu I had an unique experience visiting  Pashupatinath Temple while watching the ceremony for the dead people.

In this photo below you can see where people’s body are cremated after the ceremony

From Kathmandu to Pokhara I flew with Buddha air, prices for foreigns are usually more expensive than locals but foreigns also get the good seats on the plane, I got a window seat with the view of the Hymalayan, again I was very excited and spent most of my time during the flight taking photos.

When I landed in Pokhara I was so excited and happy like I knew I was about to have an unforgetable experience.

Pokhara is a very lay back city if you compare it to Kathmandu, I stay near Fewa lake and I can say is the best area to stay if you are there for relaxing , site seeing and exploring. Not expensive either. I got a very nice haircut for 3 US dollars.

My first night in Pokhara was great, I had Nepalese food, got a hair cut, did some shopping and booked my guide for 2 days trekking in the Himalayans.

Next morning I was really excited to go explore the Himalayans, left the hotel early, met my guide Santosh who is actually a great guide , has good English and is super nice and friendly, what a great Nepalese guide. His info if you need a guide or even someone to help you with other arrangements while in Pokhara is santosh_sherestha2009@yahoo.com

So much excitement hiking up the Himalayans. Santosh was very helpful and we chat a lot. He loves taking photos so he was always very happy to get my photo with the beautiful scenery.  We had a good stop on the way up where we had something to eat. Very tasty noodle soup was perfect .
