Japan

Absolutely surprisingly, from the time I landed in Kumamoto …. to my last day in Tokyo my experience couldn’t had been more thrilling.

What a fascinating country. I love how well preserved are the parks, the castles, how efficient is public transportation, specially in Tokyo, where so many lines and different systems connect through tunnels and underground passages.

How amazing is to have Japanese food available everywhere, anywhere and anytime. From the convenience store to the open markets. People waiting for worker at the grocery store to price the fresh fish and  then its all sold in minutes.

How fun is not to know Japanese, and buy food that you don’t really know for sure what it is because you can’t read the package since its all in Japanese. Its always a surprise when you open up the package and find out the flavor.

Suggestions for those going to Japan, specially Tokyo.  Use google maps before taking public transportation, it will make your journey much easier. Google maps will give directions from A to B and you will never get lost in Tokyo. I also use Ulmon, City map2go, its an app thats offers maps of the cities and you can use on the go as long as you have GPS  enable on your phone.

One of the highlights of my trip was getting the bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo, I took the Nozomi on the Shinkansen line, which is the fastest way to go from Kyoto to Tokyo and just a reminder if you plan to do the same is that for this trip you can’t use your Japan rail pass. On my way to Tokyo I was fascinated when the train got to pass by Mt Fuji, the top Mt Fuji is above the clouds and seeing that made me really excited.

No doubt Japan is an example for the actual world with the balance among nature, urban  and modern life, futuristic constructions and preservation of culture, civilization and respect this country has everything to remain as one the most balanced and prospers countries in the world.
